I just love this stuff. Really I do.
As I had posted previously, my honey is putting her Long Meadow Farms Quilts business into an actual store front and that’s where we’ve been working this weekend. Now, since most of us up here in the kingdom are the frugal, “do-it-yourself” type of folks we bought us some economy 2 x 4′s and some Pine board “seconds” (what you might call real knotty pine) and built her a counter to put her cash register on. We even made it long enough for the customers to use being the nice folks that we are. Stained it too! Tomorrow comes the glossy finish and some painting and in a another day or so it’ll be finished and ready to go.
Now I suppose you might want to see a picture of it but I’m afraid you’ll just have to wait until it’s finished and then I’ll post a pic.
Meanwhile…rain, rain, rain and raw to boot. Good days to be working inside so no real complaints. Besides, it’s making the grass green and the leaves have just come out on the lilac tree in the backyard. Looks like I’m going to have to wrench the blade of the lawn mower and get it sharpened here fairly soon since I had noticed it was pretty beat up last year. I’m one of those people who actually believe in cutting the grass instead of beating it into submission.
Alright, enough for now. I’ll see y’all later.
Night…
Ok, I guess it’s officially here. We’ve got green grass and spring flowers you betcha’! Here’s a couple my honey took while I was was at work.
The above are at the front door which is actually on the side of the house. It’s the door to the enclosed porch which was turned into one long room sometime in the past. The real front door is still there and it actually exists on the front of the house.
Did y’all get that? If not don’t worry about it.
And look what was under all the dirt (left by the sidewalk plow) and leaves (left by all the trees last fall) and last years flower remains (left by who knows):
It’s definitely good to see that’s for sure even though we’re looking forward to a week of rain starting on Saturday but that’s what will finally bring the leaves out on the trees and Vermont gets so beautiful once things turn green. It’s like a reward after 7 months of cold.
As usual I picked the last minute to post and now all the clocks in the house are bonging, cuck-cooing, chirping (yes, I said chirping) and 3 stooges-ing. Ok, so we like clocks. What of it? : -)
See ya’ tomorrow. Have a good evening.
I ‘dow id cud by dose id ruddin’.
A beautiful day today. Temps in the 60′s, sunshine, birds chirpin’, tree’s budding out and grass starting to turn green.
So glad I was inside all day.
Temps inside the shop where I work had to be in the 80′s. No ventilation, sweating like the proverbial pig. Oh well, I do have a decent job which tends to be rare around these parts if you don’t excel in the art of say; logging, heavy equipment operator, the trucking industry, construction work, or a massively underpaid, “you can use your own car” health care worker and what do you mean you don’t know somebody?
Meanwhile…two more days to go and the weekend is here(!) and then to work on the store, yeah! Store counter comes first since we managed to stuff all the needed lumber in the ol’ station wagon and hauled it about 100 miles up from central Vermont during my last VA run (the nearest VA medical center being located in White River Junction, VT which is about 113 miles south of Newport VT).
Hey, I got my “quick square” and my screw gun so it’s hey ho and good ol’ square cut carpentry we go.
The grandfather clock just struck bedtime so it’s off to feed the fish and then to bed.
Night all.
Hey, check this out. This one gets his own finally.
Former Vermont Lawmaker Admits “Peeping Tom” Charge
http://www.wcax.com/Global/story.asp?S=4786318
Burlington, Vermont – April 18, 2006
A former three-term state lawmaker Tuesday became the first person convicted under Vermont’s new peeping tom law. Burlington lawyer Alan Bjerke pleaded no contest to one count of attempted voyeurism for sticking his cell phone camera where it didn’t belong.
Bjerke was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2000. He served three terms as a Burlington representative in the Vermont House. He is a lawyer with one of Burlington’s most respected firms. Tuesday, he admitted his guilt to high-tech peeping at a tanning parlor.
Bjerke usually comes to court to represent his clients. Tuesday, he needed a lawyer because he was charged with violating Vermont’s one-year-old peeping tom law. Police say Bjerke committed his crime at the Body Le Bronz tanning parlor on Pearl Street using his camera phone.
Bjerke was tanning in booth number three on February 9 and reached up over the top of the wall with his picture phone and started taking pictures of the woman who was in booth number four, according to police affidavits. Police say the half-clothed woman was looking in the mirror and in the reflection saw the phone above the wall pointed at her, and she yelled out, “Are you taking a picture of me?” Then she quickly got dressed and notified the attendant while Bjerke continued to tan in booth number 3.
Police say they initially determined Bjerke’s identity from tanning parlor records. Police say when they later interviewed him at his home, he neither denied nor confessed he had taken the pictures. And there was no clear photo of the woman on the phone. But police charged Bjerke after the tanning attendant and the victim positively picked him out of a photo array.
“Obviously we wanted to take care of this right away and make sure it doesn’t happen… in my business or anyone else’s,”said Body Le Bronz co-owner Randy Ploof. “I think it’s terrible.Victimized us. Victimized the people that were involved anybody else out there in the community.”
In court, Bjerke tried to hide behind his lawyer from our camera as he entered a no contest plea to one count of attempted voyeurism. It’s part of a plea deal that gets him 18 months on probation and a clean record if he stays out of trouble. Prosecutors accepted the plea deal because Bjerke has no record and he must own up to the crime.
“Because in order to complete counseling requirements of probation he will have to take responsibility for his actions,” explained John St. Francis, Chittenden County Deputy Prosecutor.
After the hearing, Bjerke quickly left the courthouse and had “no comment” according to his lawyer.

I wonder why he didn’t represent himself?
Looks like the team at WordPress had a little problem but they got it fixed ok it seems. Bully for them.
While I was sitting at the computer this morning before work (reading the news) our cat BV decided to keep me company whilst I tried to find out if the world was still there (it was and still doing the same silly things it was doing for the last month). He usually does this by walking across my lap, sticking his tail in my nose, shedding his fur all over everything (I swear he can do this on command) and walking abouts on my keyboard. This morning however, he discovered that my combination phone/answering machine had been replaced by a regular slim type phone, the latter having been taken over to the up and coming “Long Meadow Farms Quilts” store we’ll be opening in the next few weeks here in Newport VT and he posed himself thusly:
At least it kept my face relatively hair free never mind my dark green shirt.
And speaking of Long Meadow Farms, here’s a picture of her latest creation: The “Red Queen”.
I believe it will look just fine in her new store. Looking forward to opening day!
On other news I actually got a Gmail account the other day. It’s different to say the least. I wanted one for a couple months now in order to bang IE 7.0′s latest build against it just to see if I could get it to crash…it did. But that’s what beta testing is all about. Got a Windows Live mail account for the same reason…says it’s not compatible with IE 7.0 beta…go figure.
So much fun.
Well, it looks like it’s just about time to turn in for the evening. Glad WordPress is back up and running. Too bad I can’t remember the other things I wanted to post but that’s the world of blogging I guess.
Ny-tol.
I (meaning myself) am making my honey supper tonight. Just so all of you female type skeptics out there know that there’s at least one man out there (there’s more I assure you) that does this kind of thing.
And it ain’t hamburgers either! : -)
Just another useless post by yours truly.
Have a wonderful evening ya’ll.
Yeah, I know. I know.
I’ve changed the thing again. Well, heck, it’s my blog ain’t it?
OK. The “Old and Dignified” style template was fine and dandy but the fact was, I just didn’t like it. This looks better so bear with me here whilst I learn the ropes and such.
Oh, by the way. My honey and I put up a new screen house in the back yard last weekend when it was 60 + degrees outside. Here’s what happened during the middle of the week:
Luckily for us, we didn’t get the 8″ to 14″ they forecasted.
C’mon Summer! Can’t get here soon enough for me!
