The SEO problem

God save the “newbie”. I have just spent the last two hours researching and installing two SEO (Search Engine Optimization) plugins for WordPress installs in hopes that I might help along any future page ranks that might come my way since leaving WordPress.com and my past ranking behind.

The two plugins are “Head Meta Descriptions” and “Google Sitemaps Generator” which can be found at JohnTP.com on this page concerning recommended SEO plugins. I’ll let you do the reading and researching end of things yourselves since my head is still whirling. Luckily the installs of both went like clockwork with the Google Sitemaps getting more complicated at the Google Webmaster Tools site since there were several things that must be accomplished for completing the submiting process of your site for crawling and displaying statistics and various whatnot. Generating the sitemap was the easy part at least with my host.

Note: You do need to have a Google account in order to make use of the sitemap that was generated by the plugin.

Whew! Enough for one night…I’m brain-bushed! One thing I can tell you is that the learning part of this “hosting your own” thing although exhausting, is a whole lot of fun for those with a bit of patience.

I highly recommend it to those who want more than what the free blog hosts offer.
