Added a Contact Form or Monkey see…Monkey do.

When I first began this adventure into “hosting my own”, the one who really helped me out as far as getting the thing fleshed out as it were was Becky from Sprites and Bites who had previously tread the bumpy path of moving her gaming blog from WordPress.com to her own WordPress install herself. Many thanks to her.

During this time of setting up, she sent me an email with a list of plugins that I might find useful and I most certainly did. Not all of them fit what I had in mind for the blog of course since our subject matter is very different from one another, but a few did and I find myself referring to that list quite a bit lately as the blog becomes more mature in layout and one of the plugins was added today in the way of a Contact Form in case anyone who stops by happens to have this overpowering need to write to me about what a blankety-blank blog this is or something to that effect.

The “Monkey see..Monkey do” part of it comes from putting the “Contact Me” under the header image next to “Home” and “About” after I had created a page to hold the contact form. Sure, the new page went into the sidebar under the Pages title but I wanted it included in the links below the header image as well so I wandered over to my Admin Panel, brought up the theme editor and prepared to hack the Header.php file. I checked to see how the code looked for the “About” link (which I had to re-tailor previously when I added the theme since it was linked to my home page for some reason)  and copied the code to a line below it and changed the “href=” to point to my “Contact Me” page and vi-o-lay(!), I now have a “Contact Me” where I want it.

Heck, I can copy anything. When I have to do some real coding that’s when I get in trouble. Ah well…works so far.

This somewhat meaningless post is just to point out to whoever may meander along that there is now a way to send me an email if you should choose to do so and more importantly, to give Becky another plug for all the help and info she willingly gave me, some of which I have been able to pass on to others. Her site is really looking good now and I have a feeling she and her gaming reviews (and other things as well) are going to become quite popular. She’s very good at what she does.

The Performancing Partners first ads test is over and went well by what I hear. Now they are busy doing the wrenching, hammering and adjusting to get ready for the second test which will be coming soon so just in case my blog blows up you’ll know why. :P

The next thing I should probably get started on is working on the links in the sidebar as in adding some others on. I have dozens of links for info and interesting websites that I have gathered over time but like sorting out the clutter on my desk my desk, I do tend to procrastinate (who me?). I’m sure I’ll get to it soon enough…I always do. The other thing is to revamp the categories since the majority of these come from the original “Conversation Lost” Blogger blog that was the predecessor to Just Thinkin’. A lot of these are a bit N/A if you know what I mean but unlike the links, I can change the categories on the fly as I come with new places for the posts to live.
