Advertisements coming soon

Some of you may have noticed the Performancing Partners logo that has lived in my sidebar for sometime now. This is the group that originally came up with my all time favorite blog editor; Performancing for Firefox or PFF for short. A simple extension for the Firefox browser that integrates an editor as part of the browser itself In fact, that’s how this group got it’s start. Only a very few years later they are now offering all sorts of ways for everyday bloggers like me and all the others out there to succeed at what they do best…blogging. And one of them is apparently a much better way to include advertisements on your blog and give you the kind of control the other ad engines do not.

I’ve shied away from doing any advertising up to this point simply because of what I’ve seen for offerings out there and the fact I didn’t have enough control over what was displayed on my blog. You basically had to accept what was thrown at you with very little say in the matter. Performancing Partners adds a lot more control over what is displayed on your blog as advertisements. Basically it works akin to advertiser’s looking to buy advertising space in a magazine for instance or a spot on the radio or commercial space on television but instead of these things they are buying advertising space on a blog. The cost of a space is determined by the Peformancing for Partners group using one of those algorithms I never had the mindset to understand. You can also set the price manually if you choose to do so. The unique thing about all this is the advertisers as well as the publishers (bloggers who are members) have to be members as well and the group does not tolerate any troublemakers in the least, so no fly-by-night Viagra types allowed. You also get to approve or disapprove any advertisement offer that comes your way and these offers come by email to the contact address of your choice. Advertisements come through where you place the logo in your sidebar. Payments are made through PayPal.

So what if your blog is just…well…your blog and rather unknown at that like mine for example? There’s an answer for that as well. Here’s an excerpt from Performancing’s Nick Wilson’s December 8, 2006 post:

As reported by Darren
over at Problogger, we’re to beta “Network Ads” next week. This is to
address the challenges many publishers face in securing those all
important first paid ads.

Network Ads are very simple. They’re CPA (cost per action) ads that
fill your unsold ad space until a regular advertiser wants that space
for herself. Initially the creatives will be limited to around a dozen
fairly “universal fit” brands/products to test the system, and help us
fine-tune targeting for categories, and in some cases individual blogs
in the Partners network.

As you can see the whole thing is just getting wound up to pushing out the first test ads through the new advertising network they have set up so there is a lot of “we shall see” involved in this yet but their idea about putting out ads is unique to say the least.

For any info regarding this group follow the Performancing Partners link in the first paragraph. I’ve worked with this group for about a year now and have seen what they can do. They are definitely on the up and up and tolerate no BS in the least.

Hmmm. This post was originally intended to be a short “I’m gonna try some ads and see what’s what” type of post but as usual, it turned into a much longer one. Wordy is as wordy does I guess. What it all boils down to is I wouldn’t mind making a little pocket change now and then and this appears to be worth trying so if all of a sudden this week you see a couple three ads appear in the sidebar, let me know what you think. I’d appreciate all the constructive feedback I can get.

Add-on 10:02 PM: Sheesh, This sounds like some sort of advertisement or something (it’s not). Maybe I should just say to heck with ads and start writing ads and reviews instead then I could quit my day job, stay at home writing all day and make tons of dough (doubtful).

Well…maybe not.

Have a nice night all.
