Weather in Punxsutawney, PA-An Early Spring?
Feb 2nd, 2007 by Kirk M
Please see the new Punxsutawney Phil 2008 update here.
The weather forecast for Punxsutawney, PA (that ain’t easy to spell I’ll tell you that) is calling for an overcast sky and 80% to 90% chance of snow (depending which weather site you bang into).
To wit:
Cloudy with snow showers becoming a steady accumulating snow later on. High 28F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 80%. 1 to 2 inches of snow expected.
So what does this mean for us? Well it’s Groundhog Day isn’t it? And that weather forecast means that ol’ Punxsutawney Phil won’t be seeing his shadow this year and that of course means an early Spring which is something I won’t be complaining about and neither will our aching bones.
Seems like every February the 2nd these last few years, Phil has seen his shadow and jumped right back into bed for another six weeks and that’s exactly what I wanted to do also. I seem to appreciate the cold, wet weather a lot less these day–go figure.
And with that positive type thought of warm, wonderful weather in mind, I shall henceforth get ready for work and hope ol’ Phil decides to make an early start of it this year.

I don’t believe in the groundhog thing, but early spring always sounds good to me.
Don’t believe in Groundhog Day? Well, okay–but It’s more of a traditional thing rather than whether we believe in it or not.
Still, I like to know that when February the 2nd rolls around, old Phil is out there checking out the general surroundings
C’mon early Spring!!
Well I sure hope the groundhog is correct! It’s currently 5° with windchill of -12°. The entire weekend is going to be like this. I am not a happy camper
Stay inside, keep warm, have a cup of hot cocoa and think of all things green and Spring
Me? there’s about 6″ of snow that fell overnight out of the driveway that needs to be removed. I’m just waiting for the temperature to get a little higher (brrrr).
[...] on me in the least that the closer we came to Groundhog Day the more people were banging into last year’s post about this very thing. Over half my visits and nearly all the downloads were of that Feb 2nd, 2007 [...]
