Alright…Update was almost complete
Mar 19th, 2007 by Kirk M
So why were my FeedBurner site stats showing zero this morning? And why were all the keywords missing in my Whois description? Did I perhaps miss something here?
Yup!
I had missed throwing my meta keywords hack back into the header and installing the tracking script into my posts templates for the FeedBurner site stats. Quickly fixed of course but a bit aggravating as well.
So here’s a tip for all you newbie WP self-installed type bloggers out there. Your theme, when you get around to hacking the code of your install to your liking, will most likely contain most of the modifications you make including almost all of the plugin hacks with the exception of Admin stuff. So when you find out that your theme has been updated and all sorts of fixes and new features have been added and you just have to have it…Make sure you keep your old theme handy for reference and it’s a good idea to keep a text document on your Desktop where you can jot down all the changes you make as you go along which includes all the code you cut out and the new code you pasted in etc. It’s easy to do and it will save you a whole lot of frustration in the long run.
But always remember…you’ll still probably miss something and back-up, back-up, backup.
And have a great day.

So…. I come back and you’re still messing about with your blog? Oh dear, I thought you wanted to stop that ages ago?
I hate to say, I like the look of it though, although I’m a bit surprised about the Sponsors bit? What Sponsors are you going to be including?
Welcome back Cat! We all missed you.
You never stop messing with a “host your own” Wordpress blog. There’s always stuff that needs to be updated, the install, themes, plugins, the author
etc.
the sponsers are supposed to be Text Link Ads. A really subtle, one line of text type thing but apparently I’m not popular enough.
Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, i’ve kind of gathered that. All I see you and Becky write about is how you change stuff on your blogs [Let's ignore the fact that that's also my latest post on wp.com]!
I do like what you’ve done with it though.
However I am getting really irritated at your and Beckys SPAM protection with the maths question. I get it right every time, but it never lets me comment first time. I don’t knwo what it could be on my end, I’m using FireFox and have no other problems elsewhere.
I’m running the latest version of Firefox as well (wish everyone did then I wouldn’t have to re-hack my theme code so it renders properly in IE) so here’s a test comment to check it out. This is the first check.
BTW, messing with your install and theme is almost addicting, a great learning experience and a lot of (aggravating) fun as well.
Okay, worked for me. I have a suspicion but I won’t be able to check it out until this evening then I’ll update here.
