Sometimes change comes with fire and destruction, sometimes with loud voices and the pontificating of law makers and politicians. But the most profound revolutions come with the subtlety of Spring rain which starts softly then steady and the streams and rivers begin to swell…and landscape begins to change. And so it is with us though most may not know it.
Community.
Just one word a simple word yet a word and idea that’s becoming unbelievably strong and moving. And this time community just doesn’t mean the folks of a small town or village. Here at the very beginning of the 21st century, this community is compromised of the world’s people. No borders to cross, no passports to show, no thinking the other is strange because they live in a different country with a different way of life. It’s “Hi friend…welcome to my little corner of the world. C’mon and join in.”
What a wonderful thing blogging has become. An amazing joining together of folks from all over irregardless of their beliefs, skin color or any of the other factors that have always kept us a part. So many times these days, I have read about occasions where a blogger finally meets their fellow blogger’s and commenter’s face to face and it’s just a matter of picking up the conversation where they left off. All handshakes and hugs and off they go. Can you imagine a world of people doing the same thing someday?
I’m glad to have seen this within my lifetime and I’m fortunate to have enough lifetime left so I might see where it goes from here. And I’m blessed indeed to be part of this amazing phenomenon.

This is a good post Kirk. Can I imagine a world doing that? No
not in my lifetime anyway. But we can start one person at a time and hopefully future generations will be part of such a world.
Hi Elaine,
That’s what I’m hoping for. I’d really like to believe that our children will have a better world to live in. Sometimes it’s hard with all the controversy going on everywhere. Change is always difficult though, even if it’s for the better.
Hope your having a fine week.
So true. Blogging has shown me that there are still so many good people out there. Bloggers mostly write from the heart and we see that no matter where we are in this planet, we basically have the same fears and problems and hopes and dreams.
I join you in hoping that blogging will help achieve the unity of minds and hearts among peoples of the world, and that this will nudge humanity toward a better future.
Hello Maia,
Welcome to my Just Thinkin’. Pull up a chair and I’ll put on some coffee, tea, etc.
You said it so well and I know that the majority of folks out there are decent people. It’s when we put all of us together as a race that shows we are not of one piece.
We need as many as we can find who believe and hope as we and others do to all join in with voices raised. It might take awhile, the world’s people change very slowly, but we cannot help but make a difference in the long run. I may not live to see it in the lifetime I have left but I do hope for the best when it comes to the children who have to live in the world we leave them (as Elaine said).
Glad you stopped by…don’t be a stranger now.
