For anyone familiar with my little effort in blogdom here it’s pretty obvious that something has changed. Like the theme for example. And for anyone who has known me and stopped by on a regular basis over the past months knows that I have been using Sadish Bala’s excellent Misty Look theme (slightly modified for my own use) just about forever or at least since I went to my own Wordpress install. And they also know that I’ve been on the lookout for a suitable 3 column theme for awhile now and finding nothing that came close to what I thought was right for Just Thinkin’.
My search may be over.
Enter a brand new Sadish Bala theme called Seashore and many thanks to my good friend, Elaine of Elaine’s Place who sent me an email cluing me in on it’s existence. She thought it might fit the bill and she just might be right. I’ve spent a couple hours setting the workings of the theme to rights, adding in my few custom hacks for tracking purposes and adding in page navigation into the single post template that never seems to work “out of the box” with Sadish’s otherwise excellent themes. It’s also very possible I might be missing something.
Only the absolutely necessary modifications to the theme’s code have been made so it’s basic operation is correct for my needs. There are plenty of small tweaks and customizations that have to be accomplished over time before I’ll be completely happy with it but for now it seems to sit well.
Note: One thing though that I simply can’t get around is for those of you still using IE 6.0 with a screen resolution of 800 X 600, the theme will not render correctly in regard to the two sidebars, with the far right sidebar moving under the nearer one so it will look like one, long single sidebar. Not rendering the site useless for you but it might look a bit strange.
This is where all you readers come in. You folks have a much different perspective of things than I do since I’m the one sitting in the driver’s seat looking out the windshield. I want your opinion. How does it look from your perspective? Anything busted?
Let me know, please. I’d certainly appreciate the feedback.
Now off I go to see if anything is broken.

I like it very much and it works well for your blog. With the amount of information you have here I think you need the 3 column. Looks good Kirk

Still looking around, but so far so good! It’s a little like moving furniture around isn’t it? Takes a minute to get your bearings again.

The theme looks great. That header is a perfect blend with the blog’s title. Nice job.

Hi Elaine,
I beginning to like it myself. Many thanks for letting me know that Sadish released it. I’ve been looking for a three column for quite awhile now as you know. Always nice to know someone’s looking out for me.
Hi Micki,
It’s more like moving from a small apartment to a two story house. Hoo-boy! To me it was quite a change but I think it’s going to be worth it. I really wanted to be able to get things spread around and more visible. Hope you found everything okay.
Hey Baron,
That’s why I need outside opinions. I wouldn’t have known if the header fit the title or not. It’s so much different when it’s your site. Thanks for letting me know.

Fantastic theme, I had toyed with a single sidebar version early on but this looks good. I to found a new theme, the one I’d been looking for at long last ~ few snags getting it working but it’s there now.
Hope all is well with you..
Regards,
Rich

Thanks Rich and I’m getting there slowly but surely (I hope). The VA finally found a non-narcotic med that works well at controlling chronic pain.
Is that the new “Glued” theme? Looks good and seems to be faster than the “Subtle theme” that you first had. I tried “Subtle” for my somewhat delayed series blog but it had too many bugs so I had to ditch it.
Looks like my new theme’s going to stay.

I like the theme. It’s very clean and crystal clear, two attributes that work well in a blog’s presentation. I like the double sidebar, lots of real estate to place all your widgets, links and other flair.
Small thing .. you have 2 links to site admin (one in your sidebar, and one in your footer)

Hey Owen,
Thanks for stopping in. Glad you like the theme. I initially found it more difficult than I thought switching to a new one but after a couple days I have begun to realize that it was a good move.
I never noticed the admin link at the footer. Thanks for pointing it out. I’ll have to go into the footer.php and comment out the line that calls the link. Right now the “Meta” in the sidebar also has the RSS links for the blog so it has to stay. Sooner or later I’ll whip up a couple of linked RSS icons and stick them up in the header somewhere.
