I was perusing around the Dashboard of my blog when I happened to notice an incoming link from one of the recent posts at Successful Blog and sure enough, there was my link in the post with my name stapled to it. Seems that Liz had been challenged by her friend Ilker to dig up 5 “Must Read” posts from the past and work them into a new post for all too see. And like every decent challenge that comes her way, she rose to the task at hand, worked her way through 2000 or so past posts and came up with these 5 great pieces.
The she passed the challenge on to myself, CK, Mike, Ann, Dave, Rick, Jeff, Chris B., Susan, Seth, and everyone else who might have been reading at the time so we too could dig through our blogging past and resurrect 5 of our own. Personally I don’t believe I ever wrote anything that would qualify as a “Must Read” type of Just Thinkin prose but I did find 5 that I enjoyed reading again.
So in no particular order…
- 6/25/06 Weekend Chores (or how not to water one’s foot): Adventures in trying to water a flower garden out front when the spigot is around the back and not watering the neighbors in the process.
- 12/09/06 The Scooter: A Christmas present for an old gent.
- 12/23/06 Absentmindedness is a sign of what??: Guess what and whom this post is about?
- 01/20/07 How To Speak With a (partially) Deaf Person From my Life as a Veteran category. Written out of total frustration with certain members of my co-workers who refused to understand that I couldn’t hear them.
- 05/30/06 Things I Can’t Stand Everybody has one and so do I. Presenting my top ten list of things I just can’t stand. Thought I’d end the list with a bit of fun.
As I said, this blog really isn’t anything I consider a “Must Read” anything since this is my personal outlet to relieve the pressure in my head without having to resort to a drill. But I hope you enjoy reading them irregardless.
And I’ll tag anyone who happens upon this post that wishes to do so to dig into their past archives and join the fun. Who knows, you might be surprised at what you find.

I fully agree with article#4 being a some what deaf vet myself. the hearing aids the VA gave me pick up so much background noise I’m better off without them. However it does get frustrating to my wife to have to face me when she wants to say anything. (as with others). Anyway good article!!!

Oh lordy i’ve just spent the last 3 daze trying to find a WP theme i like + it is exasperating!
One i did like a lot was TV Money Maker 1.0 which i saw from Honestway + i think U designed it*

Good to see you back and thanks!
Constantly reminding folks that they have to face you when they’re speaking can be one of the most frustrating things about being deaf. I have to keep myself from getting aggravated since I know that most just don’t get it…they can’t.
Life is full of challenges isn’t it?
Posted 02 Sep 2007 at 7:29 pm ¶Yo Billy…
Are you for real, man? Yup, I guess you are at that. No offense now but I had to check you out three ways from Sunday just to make sure. That’s one unique site you have.
By the way. The site doesn’t render well at all using Firefox. Are you using Active X in your ads? Just wondering.
And if you’re talking about that green Money Maker theme, I didn’t design it. I just helped out a friend quite awhile back by making it actually work correctly. It had to be the most poorly coded theme I’d ever run across and I don’t even know code that well…it was that obvious. A while later I gave my fixed copy to a couple other folks who had the original (which was hosed of course) who had found out I had made it work.
Had no idea it had gotten around. Glad it worked for you.
Keep the faith

i guess so*
;PPP
I haven’t used that Theme U tweaked as yet - I asked Honestway whether i could change the colourz to a shade of Purple + he said yes* I’ve decided to go with another one that gives me a Purple header (no Pun) but unlike yers it has the 2 Sidebars over to the far Right*
it’s always something!!
But i would like to use it in the Future - but i have spent so much Time dinkin’ around with this - i don’t even wanna think about it!!
So come end o this week - I AM gonna have a Friggin’ WP site up!!
Cheers Dude!! Billy ;))
Peace*
p.s. thx fer da feedback on Firefox - i’m not sure about the Active X - i mean i add Widgets but by no means do i actually know what the heck is going on!!! I know some provide some Web Visitor Stats - would those be Active X?? + i hear from some Peeps that it loads Slow - no doubt cuz of all the Images i post + other crap running* I will try + be more Frugal with da new one* ;))

It’s actually the ad on the left hand side that follows the reader down the page when using IE. In Firefox, it just has a bunch of ads images streaming down the left side of the page, sometimes extending into the text area. Could be the roaming ad uses an Active X component strictly an MS thing which is why it would work only in IE. Ya never know ya know.
Blogging is pretty brutal sometimes. Ya never know what’s going to happen.
Posted 03 Sep 2007 at 11:45 am ¶Ahhhh thass ‘http://www.weboscope.com/free/?LANGUAGE=UK’
it was the first thing i tried that allowed me to see some interesting Stats on my Blog*
yeah i kinda thought it was c0ol the way it appears to Slide down the Page - hopefully it doesn’t Tick my readers off too much!
;))
I laffed one girl was mad one time cuz some other Silly Ad Widget i had running was blocking her being able to Read what i said about her amazing sexy Photo! I was just thrilled that somebody was actually bothering to even Read my Blog!!
I also don’t like IE - i don’t think any of my Widgets are even visible with that stoopid Microsoft/Poop Browser* Obviously the only Twits that use it are the poor folks stuck in the Corporate Orifice saddled with MicroPOOP!!
Thank heavens Firefox Google all the c0ol Web2.0 Startups are Freeing us all from that monopolistic Crap*
;))

I have Opera, SeaMonkey, Safari for Windows and IE 7.0 installed as well as my trusty old Fox and I use all for checking site rendering and troubleshooting. When you get your WordPress site up and running, you’ll have more control over your site layout. More than you know actually.
Thanks for dropping in and all that
