Look what I found: The Very First Post

Guess what I found while rousting about the categories and the rearranging thereof? Yup…just like the title says:

My very first post. I don’t mean the first post when I went to my own WP install. Not even the very first post when I went to WordPress.com and had to change the name to Just Thinkin’. I mean the first post when the blog was brand spanking new–on Blogger no less!

So here ya’ go , , , , , , , , and without whom I could not possibly live and anyone else who has been following my effort here…

Here’s the post that started the whole effort off as it were…and is (minus a couple of typos and misspellings):

***************

There’s Always a First Time

Crawling, walking, talking, making sense and of course…knowing when to shut up which is usually a lot harder to do than making sense which is what I’m trying to do here.

Everybody got that? If you didn’t don’t worry, neither did I.

My name is Kirk, which I figure is probably something I should let everybody reading this first outing in the park know right off the bat simply because I tend to be absentminded. Otherwise I might very well have to go ask someone who knows me and then you might never know. But if this first attempt at a blog gets off the ground and some folks actually read the thing then I’ll have a few people around who can remind me whenever I need it. Perhaps a “What’s my name??” button or some such nonsense.

There’s no rhyme or reason (yet) to this adventure in Blunderland since I really don’t have a clue as to what I’m doing, in fact I figure I won’t be able to see what the thing looks like until it goes live but that is the way I usually do things so be gentle until I get the hang of it. After that you can hammer me all you want or you’ll be able to as soon as I find out how to install a hammer button.

Anyway, this little site is going to be an outlet for my latent writing ability that has already managed to hash out 14 or so pieces of what I call (much to my friends dismay) “Good Bathroom Reading Material” some of which I will most surely inflict my readers with.
At least I will as soon as I figure out this blogging thing so for now…..

Welcome to “Conversation Lost”

Even if it hurts : -)

*****************

Ain’t that just somethin’ though? To be truthful about it, for all that I’ve learned I’m still not sure if I know what I’m doing. I wonder if others out there would actually put their first post up again for all to see? Might be fun reading.

Wow! Kirk! This is wonderful! You were shy, but a writer indeed. And your wit was there shining brightly as ever. Thank you for bringing this forward. What an event this is. :)

  2. Rhea says:

All right! Very cool to look back and see where you came from.

  3. ses5909 says:

An excellent first post. i think everyone should always remember their first! It’s a good way to look at where you started and where you’ve come.

  4. Elaine says:

This is great Kirk! Writing seems to be second nature to you and your sense of humor brings a smile to my face many times while reading your posts.

  5. KirkM says:

    Liz! My fellow wheelchair blogger…

Glad you enjoyed it and many thanks.

Do I know what I’m doing yet? :P

  6. KirkM says:

    Well hello Rhea,

How are things down Boston way? Reading that first post did make me smile some although I do have to be careful when looking back. The journey seems to be getting longer every time. ;)

  7. KirkM says:

    Hi Sara,

One should always have an solid anchor when it comes to this business. Otherwise we might find our respective selves cast adrift upon the waves of our own egos.

(OMG where did that come from?)

I’m glad you liked it and thanks!

  8. KirkM says:

    Good morning Elaine!

(I’m not ready for the cold…just thought I say that)

Smiles are better than groans any day of the week! And you were my first regular reader and commenter that stuck with me throughout (I think it was shortly after I moved to WP.com we “met”). You’ve made my blog brighter ever since. :)

Your recent post was great by the way.

  9. Micki says:

Rhea and her blog were very encouraging to me too. I’ll accept the challenge, but I am afraid that we will all learn it has been downhill since then! LOL!

That was the perfect introductory post.

  10. Emma says:

Thanks for revisiting your first post with us. I’m proud to be one of your supporters. Emma

  11. KirkM says:

    Hi Micki,

It’s all ups and downs anyway and what’s the matter with downhill? Not only do you gain that extra speed to get up the next hill and you don’t have to peddle hardly at all. :D

  12. KirkM says:

Why thank you Emma! I’m very glad I ran into you when I did. Amazing how things work that way sometimes. I consider myself very fortunate.

  13. ses5909 says:

Oh and I posted my first post on ilovecode

  14. KirkM says:

    Morning Sara,
    Well, for me anyway…

Cool! And I actually found out last night with your trackback. I’m really happy you took me up on that “challenge”. This is my first one you know. I’m glad you finally became a “regular” blogger. :D

  15. Beth says:

    Kirk,
As always I enjoy your writing and your humilty. I look forward to more rewarding posts!

  16. Kirk M says:

    Morning Beth,

I’m glad you enjoy it but you should hear all the humility that comes out of me after I make my 12th typo. :P

I was over to Amaldo and checked out Ilana’s vlog post about her “rescue” dog she just got. Looks like a real sweetheart.

  17. Cat says:

Really need to sort out my RSS feeds again. Took me this long to see it!

That is a lovely first post and as some of the previous commenters pointed out, thankyou for sharing it. :)

It is always odd going back in time and looking what was a year and more ago, but I’ve found that looking in the past has helped me look ahead.

    Have a great sunday. :)

  18. KirkM says:

You too Cat and thank you! And get those feeds sorted out ay? I miss having you around! :)

  19. Cat says:

    Will do… soon… Thanks. :)

Time flies so much, I don’t even know what happened to the weekend!

As for the feeds I need to work something out which might take a little while longer. Watch my blog for the dilemma which I’ll post at some point coming week.

It also doesn’t help that my internet is very slooooow.

  20. KirkM says:

Ooog! Nothing like a slow internet to spoil your online mood.
