My Blogging Setup

Back on the 6th of this month, Darren Rowse of put up a video giving a tour of his and invited others to respond by putting up their own picture or video of their blogging setup. So far their have been nearly 100 comments on this one post of his and many of those have included pictures and videos of their own blogging setup for all to see. Now I do admire Darren quite a bit for what he’s brought to the blogging community at large and his setup is everything it should be and so clean too. Dual monitors and all.

In fact, Just about every other blogging setup I saw while nosing around other folks “Blogging HQ’s” also included these wonderfully huge 20″- 22″ dual screen setups. Talk about real estate! Must make researching and monitoring feeds and emails much more efficient by far. One lady had an entire (fairly large) room completely dedicated to her blogging setup complete with her main PC, dual screens, a notebook computer and behind her main desk was another desk with a complete MAC setup for all her graphics work. I tell you, by the time I had finished viewing all these amazing examples of blog production, my head was spinning around with ideas of where I might be a few years from now and the equipment I might have to accomplish this obsession of mine. Ah…but that’s for the future though.

In the meantime I decided that in order to keep up with the Jones’s and all that I would let everyone see where my blog comes from by posting a picture (I don’t have one of them fancy digital camcorders that y’all have) of my blogging setup.

And here it is (you can even click on the pic for a larger image!):

My blog space

Yup! That’s it. My very own blogging setup. Let me describe it to you.

On the left is my tried and true Underwood “Quick Touch” with a classic “Platen Roll-In” monitor that utilizes the new “Paper-Thin” technology. As you can see, this particular machine usually has my blog displayed it. To the right is my second machine, the “Remington Noiseless Portable” also using the “Platen Roll-In” “Paper-Thin technology. This is where my blog posts themselves are produced. Unfortunately the mouse that usually resides with the Underwood suddenly met his fate in the form of one of our cats so I had to borrow my wife’s spare. And in between my two main machines that keep this blog running down the road is my genuine Apple-Notebook.

I do realize that my setup might be considered somewhat “dated” by those with the latest and greatest equipment but I’m hoping I’ll be in a position to invest in a more up to date system in a year or so. Until then, I hope you’ve enjoyed my little tour into the where I spend my time breathing life into Just Thinkin’.

  1. Hi Emma,

Glad you like it. I know it’s somewhat dated and all that and I’m really looking forward to when I can upgrade to more modern equipment. I’m really getting tired of getting my fingers stuck between the keys! :P

  2. Hi Karen!

Glad you like the setup. (pssst! I’ll tell you a secret…it was my wife’s idea.)

Sorry I haven’t been around, things have been rather crazy lately. I’ll stop by this weekend. :)
