If you’re wondering why…

…there’s no edit function any longer for the comment form and that some of your bookmarks go to 404 pages it’s due to turning off 3 plugins in an effort to keep things working properly.

There’s a problem with the site in that it’s a sub-domain of my wife’s business website which she manages with MS Front Page. My blog runs on the same account as an add-on domain. Now she has Front Page extensions installed on her domain but they are not installed on mine. Still, when she publishes to her website it throws _vti_cnf directories all over my WordPress install and this causes all sorts of niggling little problems including PHP process hangs, pages not refreshing etc. I can clean these directories out through our host’s CPanel but my blog takes time to return to normal even then.

In over a month of searching, talking to support and posting to forums I have found no answer to this. What I need to accomplish here is to keep these _vti_cnf directories from being written in every directory of my install when Front Page updates my lady’s website, so if any of you might have some insight into this conundrum of mine, I’ll take all the ideas you care to give. The sure fire solution is to transfer the whole thing over to my own account but that costs $$$ that I don’t have at the moment. Soon enough though.

Now off to work I go…

How much traffic are we talking? I can’t understand why we’d be talking hundreds of $$$. Shoot me an email if you want to chat, maybe I can help out with hosting.
