The Early Riser is Back-I Think
Posted by Kirk M on 19 Oct 2007 | Tagged as: Life as a veteran

Yes, I made it back in one piece…I think. Well, at least most of me made it back and the rest is thumbing for rides and should be here before long. The last time I woke up at anywhere around 5:30 AM was for a fishing trip that wasn’t worth getting up for and that was a long time ago. I enjoyed it even less this time.
I never was what you might call an early riser and running 18 hour days when I was on the sub then shifting back to 24 hour days once we (finally) pulled into a port somewhere probably didn’t help matters any. And from that circadian rhythm busting experience I then proceeded to work every shift ever invented for the next 15 to 20 years after my discharge to round the experience out fully. I’m the only guy in existence that not only can’t sleep but can’t wake up either. I’m in great shape let me tell you.
And now I do believe that I’m sufficiently exhausted enough where I’m going to be able to go to bed tonight and possibly sleep through until Sunday evening where I shall rise again, have some supper, a shower and then back to bed for another 8 hours. Hopefully that will be enough to get me through the next work week. Of course it’s entire waste of a perfectly good weekend so on second thought…maybe not.
So for what it’s worth, this useless little post was just an excuse to test out an Alpha version of a new “Next Generation” type local blog editor which I’ll review once the developers get a bit farther along with it and also to let all my beloved readers (all 18 of ‘em) know that I’m still alive…almost.
Of course this post might just break the b’jeezus out of my blog but what the heck…ya’ gotta live dangerously sometimes.
