My wonderful lady of is a practical sort of person in fact she has enough practically to supply a dozen or so people without shorting herself. She also has a strong head for business, a talent which I never seemed to enjoy. And one of the things that indicate the above qualities is that after she finishes any specific quilt, she always makes sure that she makes a couple quilt blocks extra which she can use in other projects such as her for example. Of course not all her totes are made from these extra blocks since she carries many more totes than bed quilts as you might imagine but they all give her ideas for future projects.

And now she’s found yet another use for some of these extra blocks and ideas thereof: Doll Quilts.

Okay, so this is not exactly a unique idea but with the average doll "quilt" usually being made from a single piece of cloth and although they can be quite attractive, strictly speaking they’re not quilts. So there was definitely a place for a miniature version of her high quality "pieced" bed quilts but there was another matter to contend with–justification. The inherent problem here was which size of doll would she be quilting for? Not as easy to solve as you might think.

Think about it–How many sizes of children’s dolls are available these days? Can you even guess? So there was the conundrum. What size to make the doll quilts. Unless that could be solved then there wasn’t enough reason to to start a new project. Then along came the and that finally gave added the justification for beginning work on her new :

Our quality crafted in Vermont USA, Doll Quilts are made specifically to fit the average sized "American Girl Doll" size doll, but will also keep a smaller or a slightly larger doll nice and cozy and snuggly in their beds too.  Since each is unique, it would make a truly appreciated heirloom gift for that little girl in your life!

New patterns and new colors are always being created at Long Meadow Farms Quilts so check back often to view what the new arrivals are! The quilts range from 16 X 16 inches, 16 X 18 inches, and 17 X 19 inches depending on the pattern used.  All quilts and all pillows are completely reversible and both are machine washable.

Like her bed quilts, each doll quilt is "pieced" and quilted in a special pattern with the same batting that’s used in her bed quilts placed in between the top and the separate backing. Once the doll quilt is "edged", it’s ready to go. Genuine miniatures of the her bed quilts, done the same way. Heck, she even decided to make a unique reversible pillow specifically for each unique doll quilt.

I’m constantly amazed by this lady of mine, not just for her ideas but for the fact that she’s a one woman operation and does all the work herself. If you take a browse through her web site I think you’ll agree with me.
