It was over a month ago when I called in sick for the last time at work. Much to my disgruntled self the injuries I sustained while in the Submarine Force during the ol’ Cold War finally took me out of work place for good. Okay! so more time for blogging yes? Well not quite.
So far I’ve had time to deal with the VA, apply for this, that and the other thing, fill out paperwork, yap on the phone, pound on calculators (gave that up for a loss) and well…feel like crap of course. So in and amongst all this foofaraw I also took the time setup another WP install that will eventually become a shopping cart for my honey’s business website and on top of that I upgraded a friend of mine’s WP blog, plugins and theme to the latest versions, got his blog’s email(s) working finally and as a Pièce de Résistance, I completely revamped my own site to boot.
Sounds like I’m turning to a new chapter here in the ever interesting life of me doesn’t it? Wonder what amazing things this chapter will bring? It starts off with a lot of uncertainty which is always a good way to start off a new chapter, keeps the characters interested in this case as well as the readers and I’m the main character here so I’m very interested indeed! Hope it’s a happy ending.
In the meantime it’s hurry up and wait so while I’m waiting I might as well continue that life long learning assignment we all are so fond of–The Art of Patience or to put it a bit more succinctly…Hurry Up and Wait. I’m actually getting quite good at this since it appears that most of my nail beds are still attached to the ends of my fingers.
And yes, I’ll have more time to blog to be sure however I’ll have to get my collective act together before I put any serious work into it. Feeling better would also be a big help but that’s still in the works at the moment. Still, I’m really looking forward to spending a heck of a lot more time into the writing end of things and can’t wait to put the latest version of Windows Live Writer (as well as my fingers) through some serious paces. Hope you folks can take it.

I’m a member of the “hurry up and wait club” too. At least I know I’m in good company

Hi Kirk,
I think the last I commented was back when I thought I would be taking my dad to the VA. Didn’t come to pass. He is nearly bed ridden now, with only a hour or two of on time (able to stand). I am outraged at the VA! No fault of my dad’s but he hasn’t been to his primary for obvious reasons in quite awhile, so no more refills on some of his med’s. The ones they wouldn’t refill are for his prostrate. He’s on hospice right now and has been on these meds for years. Helloooo! He’s dying do they really think refilling his script is going to kill him.
Heavy sigh…
Maybe you could stop by my site and read my lastest post on the pity rag and send me a vote. lol

God, been there done that! My heart goes out to your and your dad.
Question: Would you happen to have the power of attorney for your dad? If so you can go a long way with the VA.
Anyway…
I find that outrageous behavior on his PCP’s part. He should be able to renew these meds for your dad right over the phone for him or for anyone who has the power of attorney for your father. I know, I’ve had to do it myself a few times when I was too ill to make the 2 hour trip down to my facility.
Does this guy fully understand your dad’s situation? If he refuses than get on the phone with his supervisor or call the DAV and tell them the situation and maybe they can show you a course of action that might provide more results. There’s absolutely no reason for you father not to have the meds that will keep him comfortable for the interim.
I’ll head over and read your latest entry.
