VA Bound tomorrow and look at those gas prices!

Gas has hit $3.07 around these parts and topping off the tank today by just 4.5 gallons cost me $14.00 even. Considering how fast the prices are rising it will probably be 10 cents higher by the time I leave home for the 2 hour drive down to tomorrow. And it’s sure to be $3.25 a gallon or so by the time I get there and by the time I leave for home around 4:00 PM I estimate I’ll need around $50.00 to put in less than the quarter of a tank it took to get there in the first place.

I figure that once I arrive home tomorrow evening that will be the last time I drive….ever.

Anyway, tomorrow marks another chapter in this massive change of lifestyle since my disabilities finally took me out of the workplace . I’m headed to see the GI specialist once again who is not only doing his best to find a solution for my current malcontent but also to serve as a "special examiner"  for the Disability and Compensation people as far as that increase in disability compensation is concerned. At first they wanted me to see a different GI specialist for this exam…in the same facility…in the same office…probably sharing the same examination room for all I know. Heck, they could be even going out to lunch together fer heavens sake!

Once I explained the flaw in their reasoning, they happily agreed that the aforementioned plan would indeed be a bit redundant in nature and scheduled the same GI guy for both exams at the same time on the same day. This is much better!

So off I go down a much colder highway than the last time I went (anyone notice it’s getting colder?) to the wonderful VA Medical Facility where I shall let them have their way with me once again. Wish me luck everyone will you?

I totally sympathize with the gas prices! I’m paying $3.29/gallon. Don’t even ask why MI has one of the highest prices in lieu of our state horrible economic woes. My hub pays less in DC. Then factor in all the driving we do from DC/MI/NC/OH our gas bill is enough to make anyone cry :-(

But off gas prices……..wishing you luck and hoping this will be resolved sometime in the near future. Like IMMEDIATE future. Let us know how it goes.

Oh the lovely VA. I’m heading there today to pick up a script for my dad that I would have waited 2 hrs for last week, not including the hour I waited to order it…

The VA is always an adventure. Support our troops they say, yeah right!

    Hi Janet,

I remember your battle with the VA and the meds. Ran into that myself when I came down with a horrendous sinus infection about 2 weeks ago and the VA wouldn’t send up any antibiotics when they used to have no problem doing this.

The women I nurse at the VA was just as disgusted I was about it. If it isn’t one extreme, it’s the other. Needless to say I wasn’t making a 4 hr round trip to get the things so I dealt with it.

    Maybe this trip?
