Waiting for more snow

Seems like it’s been snowing since December rolled around and there’s a good reason to feel that way–it hasn’t. At least that’s the impression everyone around is getting here in Newport and the surrounding area. And today (and last night and the night before etc) doesn’t help any.
First it was snow showers that over a period of a couple days added up to about 8-10 inches worth that had to be
cleared off. Then a clipper came through the next day and dropped a foot or better on our unsuspecting driveways and more shoveling, plowing and snow blowing ensued. Now yesterdays "snow showers" that just happened to last overnight and all of this morning has blessed us with yet another 6 inch topping of white matter that once more has to be
cleared away in preparation for the rather huge, old fashioned, power robbing Nor’Easter that’s going to be slamming into us sometime Saturday night and continuing all the way through until Monday morning. At least that’s what all the meteorologists have been yelling about over the past 24 hours.
(Aren’t these alternating images annoying?)
So it’s shovel, plow, blow and make sure there’s plenty of gas for the snow blower. And a full spray can of cheap cooking spray as well to lube the auger and chute so the snow slides easily through (so you don’t end up on your knees trying to clean a clogged chute with a 60 mph wind screaming in your face).
Last year, when they predicted much of the same thing it fizzled out. The first one for this year did the same thing but I figure three’s a charm and this one is probably going to happen. Either way, we of the Northeast Kingdom get a bit of a break tomorrow which we can all use to catch our respective breathes before we have to man the shovels yet again.
And December ain’t half over yet. Sheeesh!
