Firefox 3-Visual Beginnings
Posted by Kirk M on 28 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Firefox/Thunderbird
It’s beginning to look a lot like a different looking Firefox is just around the corner with the first hints of the new visual refresh showing up in the nightly builds. Now what you see at the left is the beginnings of the refresh that will be seen when used on Windows XP and as you can see, it’s not quite all there yet. Too get a good idea what at least part of the finished toolbar might look like when beta 3 is released, take a look at Alex Faaborg’s latest post on the subject.
So far it appeals to me. I never really liked the visual refresh that came with Firefox 2 so this, so far, is a rather "refreshing" change (that was really bad. My apologizes).

Minefield, huh?
You have prompted me to go for the nightly builds. It’s looking good.
Which is more than I can say for your new design

Grandad,
I suggest you backup your bookmarks using Beta 2’s backup feature and then ditch beta 2 altogether Once Minefield’s installed, use Minefield’s Default profile just like you did for beta 2 so all the features of Minefield are available. Personally, I like having new updates everyday.
I knew you’d like it.

Too late!!
Anyway I just installed Minefield in its own folder, and then selected the Firefox 3 profile. It works perfectly.

Ah good. I wasn’t sure about that. As unfinished as the UI is, I think I prefer it over version 2. Jury’s still out though.
