Yes indeed, I got stupid brave today and upgraded my beloved and befuddled blog to the latest trunk build of WordPress 2.5 meaning the closest thing to 2.5 beta 1 as I could get. Just couldn’t wait any longer and besides that–I kept drooling all over my keyboard in anticipation and my keyboard didn’t like it one bit. Seriously though, despite the fact that there’s still more to do on the WordPress 2.5 before it goes live, more than enough of the new version is in place already that I felt I could safely run Just Thinkin using it. And even at this stage of the game I can tell that there’s a much more solid feel to the software than in any previous version I’ve run yet. The site seems to run faster overall including comment posting and that’s without the cache plugin activated.
Yeah, I lost a few plugins due to obvious compatibility issues but it’s way early in that game yet since the authors are still currently working on updating their plugins to work with WP 2.5 which hasn’t been released as a beta yet. As I said previously, I couldn’t wait any longer.
More on this later since I just barely got back on my somewhat shaky feet after a go around with a rather nasty bug which had me laid out for over two weeks now and I’m still a might dizzy. More than usual that is.

Hey Sixty,
I have a bit to go yet before I feel like skipping rope but I’m definitely on the mend.
WP 2.5 is scheduled for release on the 10th but don’t be surprised if it’s delayed a couple-three days or so. By what I’ve seen from poking around the developers end of things there’s still a lot to do yet. Better late than buggy I always say.

re: WP, you certainly would know better than I.
If the weather warms up we all would feel better.

Amen to that, brother.

Yes, you are one brave soul. They tweaked a couple more files since this morning. I just did a subversion update about an hour ago on my development server. I figure the release is still set for today, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s delayed for a couple days.

Hi Ulysses,
Good name that.
Yes…I am a fool…uh…I mean brave one. I just updated to the last trunk build and some of the classic blue colors are back along with the thumbnails in the “Manage/Media Library”. A very small part I played was requesting that in the Widgets admin page that the Text widgets reflect the unique title of each widget so the site owner who uses several text widgets knows what each widget is and not just “text, text, text, text, ad infinitum”
Lost a couple plugins I really didn’t need but other than that, it’s real solid and faster than any other version I’ve used since 2.0.
