No reason you have to upgrade since the 2.3 series will still be supported for a few months more once 2.5 is finally released. It is a fine upgrade though. A complete rebuild from almost the ground up. Whenever you're ready just holler. Besides, you don't have to do the heavy lifting you know. ;) Hmmm, methinks you need an avatar.
