This blog has turned into the online version of an overloaded blender full of vegetables. There’s too much going on in one place.
Just Thinkin’ started out as a personal type thing about life at home, family, local matters and Vermont in general and now it’s way out of control and, in my opinion, beyond recovery. There’s not enough focus here to even come up with a decent post lately. I’m not sure what the solution is yet but I’ll think of something.
I’ll be back.
Update 04-06-08, 9:14 AM EDT:
Okay, I think I have part of the problem figured out. It’s not the blog that’s not recoverable, it’s me. This realization really bothered me a lot until I remembered that it’s probably been that way for quite some time now, then I felt better. Now I have to start digging into the back end…of the blog, not me…and figure out the rest of it.
I’ll be back again.
I quite like blogs with surprises, though!
May the planets re-align for you blog soon.
Beyond recovery??? Nah not at all. You’re hitting that brick wall which tells you time to step back, take a break, re-evaluate. We’ll all be here when you do figure it out.
OY! Don’t go away for too long now. I’ll let you have a day or two off. OK?
@K8,
I made an appointment to have my planets realigned. They can take ‘em in next Tuesday. Would have been sooner but I had to wait for the special.
@Elaine,
Hid a brig wall? That mbust egsplaid why by dose id buzded.
@Grandad,
Okay, thanks. I’ll drink a lot and get all teary eye’d about the good old days.
@All,
See update to post. I figured out something.
That’s the same problem I’m experiencing right now with my blog. I’m about to start my own business, and my blog is just, well, non-business-like. I, too, have to do my own soul-searching to find my focus. Good luck with yours!
Thanks Ryan,
If you’re starting a new business then consider starting a new business blog as well although I don’t recommend you use Blogger to host your business site. Perhaps a custom WordPress install would do you better.
Just a suggestion. Good luck to you as well.
I’ve thought a lot about switching to WordPress a long time ago, but I just didn’t get around to it, and suddenly I have a lot of posts on Blogger. Luckily I used my own domain early on, and WordPress has a tool to import all of my posts, so it shouldn’t be so hard. Anyway I’ll be thinking about it some more, while hoping that the planets realign for me as well

Ryan,
One thing to remember when switching from Blogger to WordPress and having your own domain name is that your images are not imported along with everything else but rather “hot linked” from your new WordPress blog posts to wherever the images are currently hosted. This won’t be a problem if your images are hosted at Flickr for example but I have no idea what the process would be if they are hosted at Blogger. Since you would be transferring your domain name over to your new site, you’d have to effectively change the URL of your current site back to “whatever.blogspot.com”. I’m not familiar enough with Blogger to know if you can do that.
