When is it going to stop raining? The summer had a fine start up until July rolled in and it’s been raining ever since. The way things have been going weather wise over the last 40 days or so I’m just hoping I’ll get one final chance to mow the lawn before the snow flies. And we’re not just talking about sprinkles here, we’re talking about absolute tropical downpours. Since when did Vermont have a monsoon season anyway, isn’t mud season is bad enough?
So for all those folks that might have been thinking of visiting Vermont sometime in the near future, I have some rather bad news for you…
It’s not there any longer.

I’m posting this from a rowboat by the way.
Got an umbrella to keep the laptop dry.
Yeah…it’s still raining.
I drove a passenger to the airport yesterday, it was the weirdest thing… the weather was lovely on the journey, but we found ourselves driving right into a localised monsoon, right over the airport. Thunder, lightening, torrential rain, flash floods… couldn’t even see the cars in front! Such strange weather. The thunder was wicked, though. I love thunder and lightening and big fat raindrops. The roads were bone-dry only 20km outside the storm!
Somebody just wasn’t meant to fly yesterday I guess.
Hi K8,
Been crazy around here hence the late reply. I ran into a lot of this myself when I was driving a cab. One minute sunshine, the next minute pouring rain (or blizzard). We even had a small plane do an emergency landing on the interstate a couple of times. One of the things most folks don’t know about Vermont is that for every five miles of interstate highway, one mile has to be straight and flat so that small planes have somewhere to land in an emergency. So far I haven’t had one land on top of my Jeep.
I remember living in Peterborough, NH and having the constant rain for seemingly weeks on end. Now that I don’t live there anymore, I do miss the calming effect rain has when you’re trying to sleep. Enjoy the rain while it lasts!
Devin,
I would be more than happy to send any amount of rain your way in hopes you get a good night’s sleep. Save me from racing the thunderstorms when I’m mowing the lawn.
I had this twisted nightmare that a Boeing landed on the M50 right on top of me. Maybe it was because of wot you wrote, but what if it was a premonition?!! I’m refusing airport jobs for a while. Dodgy.
Hi K8,
Never refuse an airport run, love. You never know when you’re fine driving techniques and excellent customer service might elicit a rather large gratuity from some rich bugger heading back to his 3.25 million dollar summer home on the French Riviera.
And if a 747 indeed lands on of you on the M50, I’ll pray to the powers that be that you’re well aft of the main landing gear when it does.
