Time for a post about our sick cat I think. I was down to the VA on Wednesday and completely dragged out from the trip yesterday hence the delay on his status.
Good news folks, Churchill now appears to be on the road to recovery although the road looks like it’s going to be a few miles long at the moment. He’s eating for himself about half his usual fair and back to drinking his fill. We haven’t taken him off the baby food quite yet since he needs the extra protein and other healthy stuff it provides.
The boy’s also getting around better the past few days and as of last night he resumed his rightful place as the senior “dinner kitty”. He also makes the leap onto the bed at night although he’s not quite the blanket anchor he used to be prior to his illness since he’s dropped about half his weight. The poor guy’s almost literally skin and bones. It’s a good thing he was such a large and muscular cat as he was before his health went down the toilet since he probably wouldn’t have survived this mysterious illness otherwise.
On Tuesday we finally got the results from the additional blood tests I ordered from the vet and it definitely showed sign of an infection. Since the blood sample was taken the previous week and we’re done with the antibiotic and Churchy’s showing good signs of improvement I think we’ll just leave well enough alone for now and let him handle the rest of it while we keep a close watch.
Currently Churchill is hiding in my closet under an old dresser that’s kept in there on the left hand side (darn cat just slides open the door and walks right in like he owns the place). Can’t say as I blame him any, there’s a new moon coming up soon and the other cats are already getting antsy (fur munching, cuffing, wrestling, generally dirty looks, that kind of thing)—he needs his rest you know.
Thanks to all those who sent their good Karma his way during his trials and tribulations. It was awful close there for awhile and your good thoughts were just the extra oomph he needed.

Ahh so he did have an infection, well this is great news that he’s recovering and getting back to normal. Sounds like it will take awhile though to get his weight where it once was.
What’s the news from the VA?
Afternoon Elaine,
It’s probably going to take a couple of months to fill him back out again but we’ll keep at him until he does. I’m still wondering where the heck he got an infection from.
No real news from the VA yet. The last trip had to do with disability and compensation, the results of which I should be hearing about within the next two weeks I’d imagine. I’ve gotten sooo good at the waiting game.
