Winter, although not officially here yet, has fallen with a resounding thud around these parts today. We got 3 inches in fact…
…all at once…
…all 3 inches of it…
…it just fell out of the sky…
…actually knocked out some folks that had been outside at the time.
I suppose it would have served no purpose being in denial about the coming winter with all it’s snow, ice and unusual traffic accidents but I was deeply in denial nonetheless. It didn’t stop it of course and the fact that my denial had been all in vain was never as strong as it was when I was gazing out across the back deck looking at this:
Ah well, so be it. I donned the jacket, gloves, hat and went out at the end of the whole thing to shovel a path from the garage to our door (for my lovely lady) and a path to the woodshed (so she would be warm) then, thoroughly chilled, came back in to sit by the wood stove which, thank heavens, was burning cheerily away.
Sounds very New Englandy now doesn’t it?
Hi Kirk ~ I don’t want to jinx this by writing about it, but here in Iowa we still have clear blue skies and temps in the mid 40′s and no snow in our immediate future. Highly unusual for the time of year, but just fine by me!
Feeling kind of chilly just looking at your pictures. Little reminder of what’s around the corner I guess. BTW, I like the new color scheme. Your new header is very pretty too. That’s how I like my snow best. In pictures.:-)
Denise – Well? Did you jinx yourself or what? And yup, I’m playing around with site colors and such. Same theme/sub-theme (Weaver 2010) but trying my hand at something I’m not really good at. It’s all my friend’s fault anyway. I let her go in and change the header image and the background for the holiday season and that set me off. I’m not really good at this sort of thing though so I cheated and stole her site colors. [evil grin] Of course, if I look at it closely it’s actually my fault and not hers since I let her do it?
Nope, didn’t jinx it. It’s gotten a bit colder, but no snow. I’ve got someone coming into town next week to look at homes. Want to bet winter hits then?
I feel your pain as far as “sprucing up” your site is concerned. All that code is definitely hard on the eyes, isn’t it?
