As you might have noticed my monkeys are gone, the ones in the header that is. I’ve had quite a lot of compliments about my monkeys actually. More than I ever thought I’d have. Makes me sort of proud since it was my second attempt of a DYI header image and this one involved stitching together 5 photos of contemplating monkeys to make a header image. I thought it came out rather well if I say so myself.
I saved them though so they can be put back where they belong after the holidays.
Now I don’t usually change the site itself to reflect the holiday season but a good friend of mine emailed me saying my site needed some holiday seasoning. And being the graphics whiz that she is, especially in designing beautiful header images so I let her do up the header image and background for the holiday season. That started something.
The colors of my current theme/sub-theme (Weaver 2010/Shadows) clashed with the header image rather badly so I (gasp!) tried my hand at dinking around with the color scheme a bit, something I have absolutely no talent in doing.
After a frustrating hour or so experimenting with red, green, fuchsia and something like off-beige (among other horrendous concoctions of colors best left unmentioned) I finally solved the whole problem by simply stealing my friend’s site colors and using them on my own. There–problem solved. Elaine, please don’t kill me. Wait till after New Years so I can enjoy my new toys for a bit.
I would have gotten this post up sooner but a rather bad windstorm came literally blowing up in my area which caused a bit of damage here and there that we had to batten down. More on that later. I also forgot most of what I meant to write in this post which accounts for the lack of depth. Sorry about that.
Hope you like the colors though as much as I like her header images (she sent me more than one you know).
