Meanwhile back at the farm

In case you’ve been wondering where I’ve got off to for the past two weeks or so all I can say is that several unexpected things happened to my wife and I  all at once (not necessarily bad but rather work intensive) and we’ve been up and at it from morning to late night since then. Things have just started to ease off a bit but we won’t be done entirely until the end of the month arrives.

I’ll write up a more detailed post as soon as time permits but for now please be patient while I attend to what needs to be attended to–so to speak.

  1. Instead of stumbling to the refrigerator at 3:00 am for orange juice why don’t you keep a bottle of fast acting glucose tablets at your bedside? You should have these on hand anyway because OJ is not always available. Can buy them at any drugstore. Good luck Kirk!

    • Elaine – The VA sent me a bunch of those things. problem is that when I have one of those low BS attacks it takes more than 4 grams of sugar (amount of sugar in each tab) to bring it back up into the normal range–more like 30 grams and chewing up 6 to 8 of those tabs is more than I can take. I know, I’ve been hypoglycemic all my life in fact, I may be the only hypoglycemic diabetic in existence. If not we must be pretty rare individuals? (oh, I’m rare alright) :D

It takes an 8 oz glass of orange juice and a bowel of cereal (corn flakes with Splenda in my case) or two slices of toast to get things back to normal.
