Traded Aksimet for Spam Karma 2

So my faithful spam eating Akismet plugin has apparently lost it’s mind and is voraciously eating all the suspected spam comments posted to my blog and no longer holding them in it’s queue for myself to moderate. After all, a few of these past-captured suspects were actual valid comments. Not many but even one valid comment means I want to deal with all these possible “spamments” before they get sent to the “Great Spam Void” (whatever). However, it appears that I’m not the only one whose having problems with immediately disappearing Aksimet spam comments and I had the same problem when I rolled back to the previous version (from 2.0 to 1.8.1) and since it’s a service external to my blog, I have to suspect that the problem is with the service and not a local WP install or plugin problem.

And so, sadly enough, I’ve had to deactivate Akismet until a solution is announced (The Akismet crew does have a habit of fessing up to any problems it might encounter with it’s service) and have installed Dr. Dave’s Spam Karma 2 in it’s place. One thing I noticed immediately when I checked it’s setup pages (yes, I said pages), was that where Akismet basically has no options to set at all (just one), Spam Karma 2 has multi pages of set-up options. If I ever wished for exact control, I’ve got it now.

I left everything set to default and, like Aksimet, I can moderate captured suspected spam but this is one powerful beast so if your valid comment didn’t get through or you find something funky going on (besides answering more math questions if your comment is under suspicion), please let me know via the contact form.

If Akismet can solve it’s problem and pretty much guarantee it won’t happen again, then I’ll turn it back on. I hear that the combination of both plugins is mighty powerful protection indeed.
