Posted by Kirk M on 06 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Life as a veteran

So it’s finally over. The last Special Programs exams at the VA for this increase in disability compensation from my current 70% rating to 100% due to “unemployability” are finished; I had the last two today. The only thing left to do now is to wait for the VA to make the final decision, August [...] Read more »

One Nasty Week

Posted by Kirk M on 20 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Life as a veteran

I’m taking a rather urgent trip to the VA to find out about this, that and the other thing especially the other thing. I could be gone a couple of days and if I am, keep the faith and I’ll see you when I get back.
Well, you know what I mean. Read more »

Quit a Pain Killer. So Where’d my Eyesight Go?

Posted by Kirk M on 14 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Firefox/Thunderbird, Life as a veteran

For the longest time now I have been taking a medication called Nortriptyline which, if taken at normal dosages (75mg to 125mg), is used as an anti-depressant. However, when taken at very low dosages (10mg) it becomes a very effective pain killer for those who suffer from chronic pain–like me. Unfortunately as time went on [...] Read more »
