Anyway, K8’s probably pissed at me by now since I’m so late in getting this done but hey…I’ve had some bad bathroom experiences of late so I could never stay in front of my computer long enough to get it done up till now. Yes, I feel a bit better, thanks for asking.

So here’s what I have to do here:

The Rules

Alrighty then…here we go.

Two things that irritate me for a reason.

1. That “Why did I come in here?” syndrome.

Walking into a room and forgetting what the hell I came in there for. So what am I? Stupid? I’ve done this all my life! Not only that but it seems to be getting worse as I enter my second 50 years.

Used to be I could just return to the room from whence I came and chances were I’d remember what I went to get. Now, not only do I forget what I went into the first room for but by the time I get back to the room that I originally came from, I forget why I left in the first place plus I can’t seem to remember where I came from; was it for something to bring back to this room or is there something to take back to the other room I came from that I can’t remember?

And then I can’t recall why I’m so frickin’ irritated! (Everybody get that?)

2. Moron-mobiles (or those bottom end, well used, small cars with ridiculously loud mufflers on them).

I can’t stand them! They sound like a raucous fart on four wheels and always blow my hearing aids out of my head as they pass me by while I’m trying to take a walk. I’m not talking about some modern day motor head sinking some serious bucks into a 90’s Honda Accord here. I’m talking about some bonehead buying a well used 1989 Hyundai Accent for $500.00 and installing a $200.00 high performance muffler that belongs on a bored and stroked BMW Z4. Then they go racing around the neighborhood in 2nd gear ‘cause they think it sounds cool. Makes me glad I don’t own a high powered rifle equipped with a silencer. I wouldn’t shoot the bonehead, just his moron-mobile.

Two things that irritate me for no reason.

1. Vacuuming.

I’ve never understood this one, I have no aversion to house cleaning nor any adversity towards vacuum cleaners in general or in using them that I’m aware of. I actually like the these little suckers and especially the convenience of having one or more around. Can you imagine what regular house cleaning would be like without one? Yet…

…the moment I plug one in, I immediately become irritated—majorly! By the time I’m halfway through the house I’m frothing at the mouth, red in the face, growing hair on my palms and growling a lot. Occasionally I’ll bark or howl. Really freaks out the neighbors. As soon as I’m done though, I’m fine. Once the vacuum cleaner is turned off and unplugged I’m just fine and dandy with the exception of some left over froth hanging around.

Never could explain it.

2. Tagging other bloggers at the end of a meme.

Yup! that irritates me. And for the life of me I can’t explain why. It’s not like I don’t know other bloggers, it’s not that I don’t know other bloggers who don’t mind doing memes. It’s just when I get to that point in writing up a meme, it irritates the hell out of me. If anybody has this happen to them I’d be glad to hear about it.

But I will tag Sixty with it. And if I think of anyone else, I’ll update this post accordingly. I just need to get the thing published before K8 sends me a letter bomb or something worse.

This blog has received it’s share of (mostly) non-official awards and recognitions, Lord knows why, but never has it received such as a recognition as this…

The “Dog’s Bollocks” award! An Irish flavored recognition if there ever was one and as far as I know…I’m the first. Now that’s special alright.

The award and the subsequent logo is the creation of one K8 the GR8, daughter of Grandad, (scourge of whatever Irish county, town and/or village he happens to live in or at least that’s what his blog depicts anyway) who is known to be “…not as green as she cabbage-looking”. Personally I think she looks rather like a youngish, Irish (very), red-headed type female, somewhat rebellious in nature and quite pretty actually in my opinion but self images being what they are and all that…

The first time I noticed that she had called my blog the “Dog’s Bollocks” was on a meme she stuck me with (which I’m a bit behind on getting done actually) as a “description” following the link to Just Thinkin’. And although my lineage is rather heavy on the English, Scottish, Gaelic end of things I simply had no idea what a “bollocks” was (but I had a damn good guess) so of course I had to look it up. It was then I became worried:

1. (UK, vulgar) The testicles (sometimes used in the singular) Yup, I was right.
2. (UK, vulgar) Nonsense or information deliberately intended to mislead. Uh… 
3. (Ireland, vulgar) An idiot, an ignorant or disagreeable person. Whut…huh? I am not!  
     “Don’t mind him; he’s only an oul’ bollocks!” So this is an award?

Looking at the above definitions, this seemed like recognition of a rather dubious nature at best. But upon asking her about this the dear lady thankfully set me straight (probably had a good chuckle over it as well I’d imagine):

Dog’s Bollocks:
Lit. Canine Testicles Uh…not the last time I looked…
Adjective phrase meaning excellent, or being of excellent quality. Usually applied to workmanship or build quality. Now that’s more like it! 
“That car is the dog’s bollocks mate”

I’m giving myself the benefit of the doubt and going with the Adjective phrase rather than the literal definition in this case. Makes me feel better anyway.

Of course I had to ask K8 if there was a logo of some kind that went with this fine award (I just had to have one you see) that I could proudly hang in my sidebar and in a day or so she whipped me up that most excellent logo you see above and in the sidebar along with 2 of the previous ones which were all I managed to find.

I am a bit concerned about the SOB award I received from ( the ever wonderful) Liz Strauss before this blog…uh…”evolved” into what it is today, whatever the hell that may be. It’s not that I’m not the same lovable, ‘community oriented’, ‘help your neighbor’ type of guy that I guess earned me that award in the first place but let’s just say I’ve let more of myself come through within the last year or so—tends to add a bit of crust/grit/salt into the mix shall we say. Perhaps I wouldn’t qualify as an SOB these days…or at least not in the “Successful and Outstanding Blogger” way she means it too be, who knows?

Either way, I’m proud to hang both on on the “wall” here at “JT” (Man! I just love having my own acronym!). Kinda’ shows me that I’m still able to be diversified without alienating one set of folks from another. I love being able be myself without folks tossing yesterday’s veggies in my general direction.

Thanks K8! I’ll endeavor to live up to being a “Dog’s Bollocks” as well as an “SOB”. It’s a hard job indeed but someone has to do it. And I promise to get that meme done. Shouldn’t be hard seein’ as how complaining is one of my specialities.

I have no reason for this.

Anyway, this is supposed to be a six word memoir accompanied by the image of your choice that might reflect said memoir. My mind never hesitated and came up with this:

I’m not going to attempt to find out just why my somewhat bedraggled mind came up with this (I found the picture just as quickly like it was karma or something) but I’ll admit that there are times where the picture above is true enough in which the phrase "All at Sea" comes to mind.

You like it or what?

Now here’s a meme of a different flavor. The purpose of this one is to design the album cover of your band’s first release using the links provided down below. Whether or not you actually have a band is completely irrelevant. I picked this one up voluntarily when I came across Grandad’s effort and I decided that I couldn’t possibly let him show me up.

Start with the first link (they’re all legit so don’t worry) and go from there. And no fair clicking on them more than once until you find something you like.

• Go here. The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

Saying you don’t have any artistic talent is not an acceptable excuse since I myself have all the artistic talent of a blind gnat and I managed to come up with a halfway decent album cover don’t you think? It took me an hour or so and two different imaging programs but I managed to do it anyway.

I’m going to give this one to Sixty because…well…he’s Sixty. Anyone else is welcome to try of course and if you do, please let me know. I’m amazed at what some folks have come up with already.

I was a sound engineer at one time and a good one at that. I have forgotten more music than I’ve ever learned which was more than I can remember. I was also a Cold War submariner. My hearing was damaged during that time in the service and the damage was self progressive. Now I’m legally deaf and no longer able to enjoy listening to music. For this reason, I abstain from answering this question.

8 THINGS THAT ATTRACT ME TO MY FRIENDS (some of these are Grandad’s answers. Some I would have put down myself and indicate so).

1 - Honesty (Yup)

3 - The ability to forget themselves (Yup again)

4 - Untidiness [tidy people scare me and minimalists freak me out altogether]. (Note: Unbelievable slobs are right out though.)
