To tell the truth I was finished putting a potential new theme through it’s paces awhile ago and I have to say it just didn’t measure up. I mean, who needed a “Continue reading…” link on full posts I ask ya’? It was there though, right at the bottom of each post like there was actually something more to read. How many endings can one post have for heaven’s sake!

Even more to the point, why did it take forever to navigate from one page to another? It was as basic looking as my old theme and the author bragged about “super clean code” with no Java script yet the thing slogged along like it was dosed up on Quaaludes. After working my way through various theme files and finding nothing I could put my finger on I gave it up for a loss and went back to old reliable. Hell, I probably would have done so anyway even if the other theme had worked out. I happen like my current theme…it’s comfortable. And when you’re in my condition being comfortable is very important indeed.

I just can’t help dinking once in awhile.

My absolute addiction to using beta software has left me no choice but to once again update my WordPress install to an official beta 1 release of the upcoming version which in this case is WordPress 2.6.

Things are libel to get very wonky here during the upgrade but as long as the usual morons on my shared server don’t decide to try to upload several hundred photos to their gallery or send out 1000’s of mass mailings (as they’re not supposed to do), the upgrade will be done in less than a half hour.

Green Mountain Geek, my new outlet for my T/G (Tech/Geek) psychological problem has been running 2.6 trunk builds for the last week or so without any problems and has been already updated. So far I’m loving the new features.

Okay then. Like I said, things might go wonky but it’s just me doing satisfying my horrible craving for MORE!

Update (shortly after this post was published): Yessir! The morons are up to it again and have slowed the server to a bloody crawl once again. My host keeps kicking them off and they just never seem to get it. Thing’s will run fine for months on end and then there will be a few weeks of non-performance when the latest batch of numskulls sign on and think they own the whole server.

Please stand by…

I don’t necessarily mind these upgrades that they do once in awhile, glad they’re on top of things and all that but I do have a bit of a problem that they don’t notify anyone ahead of time. I suppose you have to pay extra for that.

So things are back to sub-normal around here and I’m already to write up a couple more posts but unfortunately it’s bedtime for this bonzo so it will just have to wait until morning. Sorry to disappoint all of you like this but sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do especially when it comes to sleeping. Seems I need all the recharging I can get these days. :P
