Rolling Along on Wordpress 2.2

Short note here to know that the upgrade to Wordpress 2.2 went without a hitch. The built in “Sidebar Widgets” even kept my sidebar in the correct form. I did have to transfer all my King Text widgets stuff over to regular Wordpress text widgets before I could upgrade but I did that yesterday in preparation for the release.
I still haven’t found out how to add any new 3rd party widgets into the new WP 2.2. I don’t use any at present but since there is no more wp-content/plugins/widgets folder any longer I wonder how it’s being done now?
Oh well…info comes to those who wait and perhaps I’m just being dense here. 
ABW comes next but that will have to wait until tomorrow evening. It’s movie time!

I’m very pleased with WP 2.2 also. The Wordpress software has come to the point where it’s becoming a mature platform and you definitely can feel the difference. Personally, I can’t wait for the WP team to finish changing over all the js script to Jquery. From just the bit that they already changed over, WP feels a lot more sure of itself now.

It’s actually pretty easy. Send me an email and I’ll go over the procedure with you this evening or at your convenience. Sometimes the procedures at Wordpress.org assume a bit too much on a user’s experience but you can take a look just to get the gist of it. You can find the link for the procedure from the WP 2.2 download page at Wordpress.org if you haven’t found it already.

After I had upgraded to WP 2.2 I did a test post from Windows Live Writer just to make sure everything was in working order hence the “kughsafkugsdafighsdfiuhsdf”. Now ask me if I remembered at the time if this little test would be rolled up into my “burned” feeds?
Uh…no!
Funny though. I believe that post increased my readership by about 5%!

Now that sounds like a great idea! No point, no purpose…just for fun. Tell you what, I’ll send you an email and we’ll see if we can form up an idea of how to start this contest and that kind of wonderful stuff. Sound good?
