After a mostly warm and rainy winter so far it looks like we may actually get some real snow up here. The weather report is calling for anywhere from 6 to 10 inches in the general area by the time it's all over. Alright now, I know that it's not a lot compared to what [...] Read more »

This is January?

It reached 55 degrees today, switching between sunny, rainy, windy, two of each or all three together and it switched back and forth on a moment's notice.
I was out running errands around 12:30 this afternoon and there was still a mist on the lake and parts of the bluff in the distance appeared to have [...] Read more »

A blistering 8 degrees here in Stove Pipe City this morning. There’s about 2 inches of snow on the ground and the smell of woodsmoke in the air from those crackling wood stoves that people in these parts still commonly use to offset the cost of fuel oil.
All this brings the air of the [...] Read more »

I like to post a few pictures of around town when I get a chance to snap a few and a perfect day came this weekend while I was running a few errands last Friday. I had the day off in observance of Veteran’s day (one of the very few holidays my company shuts down [...] Read more »

Cold, cloudy and rainy in the Northeast kingdom today just like the day before yesterday as it will be tonight. Autumn has definitely arrived despite the green that’s still on the trees which, by the way, is turning color in that steady unstoppable pace. In other words, just like any other fall we’ve ever had. Yes folks, it’s that time of year again. The time we’ve all been waiting for up here in Stovepipe City at the top of the Northeast Kingdom The Vernal Equinox when sunrise’s are directly in the east, sunset’s are directly in the west and the sun dances on the equator on it’s return trip to [...] Read more »

Way up north

Posted by Kirk M on 02 Feb 2006 | Tagged as: Just Thinkin, Life at home

So here we are back at the top of the Northeast Kingdom waiting for the weather to drop from a balmy 44 degrees to below freezing (probably in all of a half an hour) and the rain coming down to change into a whole lot of snow. Typical for this place. Good [...] Read more »
