Dear Julia, We Never Knew

There’s not much that happens these days that actually makes me waggle my hairy eyebrows but yesterday’s news about Julia Child made me not only waggle them, I actually read two full articles and today, the just released CIA report about her work in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during WWII; the forerunner [...]

Defensio Died, Akismet’s Back and Other Fun

It’s about time for another update on the happenings around here. So without further ado…
Defensio, the other anti-spam service and competitor to Akismet, apparently corrupted it’s own database table today which effectively rendered my admin useless and just about locked up my site while it was at it. I got my first clue this morning [...]

Windows Live OneCare 2 beta. A (personal) First Impression

When Microsoft first came out with Windows Live OneCare version 1 and being the old beta tester that I am, I decided to give it a (very) short trial period by creating a restore point on my computer at the time and giving OneCare a week’s worth of thrashing. It only lasted three days but [...]

She bought this “point and shoot” style digital camera (Kodak) back in 2000 and paid somewhere between two and three hundred dollars [...]

Switching to Mac? (I don’t know about that)

The more I read the (tech) news these days, the more I hear about the Microsoft’s latest doing’s and the less I like what I’m reading.
I have been an MS user from the PC’s “BW” era (Before Windows). I did have my choice at one time though. My Sound [...]

The wonderful world of extensions

orWhat does this button do again?

I read some where in my virtual travels that there was a Firefox “power” user out there somewhere that actually had 52 different extensions loaded into his FF browser and another that went for the record of 100+. The thing that really piques my interest though is that this [...]
